Nunavut Does Not Currently Have a Provincial Nominee Program
Unlike the other 10 provinces and 2 other territories, Nunavut does not operate a Provincial Nominee Program. This is confirmed directly on the Government of Canada’s official list of provincial nominee programs, which names Quebec and Nunavut as the two jurisdictions without one.
What This Means for You
If you’re set on Nunavut specifically, your realistic routes to Canadian permanent residence run through federal programs rather than a territorial nomination:
- Express Entry — Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, or Canadian Experience Class, if you qualify
- Temporary work permits — via an LMIA-supported job offer from a Nunavut employer, potentially building toward Canadian work experience that strengthens a future Express Entry application
- Family sponsorship — if you have a qualifying family relationship with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
Once you have permanent residence through a federal program, Canadian permanent residents are free to live anywhere in the country, including Nunavut, without needing a territorial nomination.
